hope的过去式是hoped。hope用作动词的基本意思是“希望”“期望”,指热切、专心致志地对未来的、积极的、崇高的、一些好的或有利的结果的盼望,含有一定的主观性,相信其可能实现。
hope的用法
hope用作及物动词的时候，固定搭配：hope to do sth（希望做某事）；当hope在句子找那个作动词的时候，后面可以接that+句子；当hope在句子中作不及物动词的时候，hope for sth（希望某事）。

二、当hope在句子找那个作动词的时候，后面可以接that+句子。其中that可以省略。
比如：I hope that you can get theh first in the match.
我希望你能在比赛中得第一名。
He hope that his mother’s illness become good.
他希望他妈妈的病可以变好。
My mother hope that my father come back home quickly.
我妈妈希望我爸能赶快回家。
