一、something用作不定代词
1.表示“聊以自慰的事”、“有价值的事物”的意思。例:
It’s something to have a job at all these days.
现在能找到一份工作就算不错了。
2.表示“某种令人不快的事情”。例:
There is something in the word.
好像要发生什么事情。
3.表示“一些吃的喝的东西”的意思。例:
A little something with his meals was an absolute necessity to him.
就餐时少许喝点酒对他来说是绝不可少的。
4.表示“实有之物”的意思。例:
Some people will never learn that you can’t get something for nothing.

5.表示模糊的概念。例:

二、something用作名词
1.相当于somebody,意为“重要的人物”。例:
She thinks she’s something since she won the beauty contest.

2.表示“重要的事物”。例:
These paintings were really something.

In something under half an hour there was a knock at the door.

2.something like表示“几分像”、“有点像”、“大约”的意思。例:
The building looks something like a church.
